Enerwise Saves Customers Millions During Record-Setting Heatwave

Kennett Square, PA — August 8, 2006 — As last week's record temperatures drained the resources and patience of business owners across the Delaware Valley, customers of Kennett Square-based Enerwise Global Technologies saved millions, thanks to Enerwise demand response systems.

As temperatures rose, the locational marginal prices (LMP) for energy skyrocketed to $1000 per megawatt hour during peak energy usage periods (up from typical prices of $30 to $60 per megawatt hour.) Enerwise demand response programs anticipated these peaks, allowing customers such as The College of New Jersey to adjust their energy usage accordingly. In addition, demand response customers receive financial incentives from PJM in return for lessening the load during peak times.

"Demand response clearly proved its value last week," said Dean Musser, president and CEO of Enerwise. "As many companies were facing record prices for energy, Enerwise customers realized both savings and additional revenue. At the same time, the reduction in energy consumption during peak hours made the entire electric infrastructure more efficient and reliable. Demand response is a win-win situation for customers and providers alike."

Enerwise manages and monitors over 500 megawatts of demand response load. The company offers demand response participants a turnkey, end-to-end solution that will handle regulatory, operational, metering, monitoring, and notification requirements.
